Welcome to the new KIDZPAGE website.
KIDZPAGE is designed as a forum where South Australian primary school aged children and other members of the community can share their experiences of recreational angling, demonstrating an appreciation of the marine environment and the outdoors.
We invite all primary schools, students and community members to participate and send their stories and pictures by E-mail or by Australia Post to 1 Boskenna Avenue Norwood SA 5067 (parental authority is required).
Regular prizes will be awarded judged to be the best story with a certificate to participating schools.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE SEA
I Like the sea because I like to collect shells on the beach and going for a swim. Sometimes I see dolphins jumping out of the water. Sometimes dad and I go fishing and we catch tommies and squid.
We go fishing on the jetty, the beach or in dads dingy. I like learning about the sea. I have learnt about all the sea creatures. There are whales, jellyfish. Octopuses, sharks, fish and dolphins. I would like to be a marine biologist when I grow up.

WAURALTEE BEACH – YORKE PENINSULA
When we go to Wauraltee sometimes we get big waves and we go straight through them. Its fun to go for a swim in the big waves too.
Sometimes Greg brings his 4-wheel motorbike and gives us a ride on the sand. We also play beach cricket and have a big bbq tea. I like to climb the sand hills and run down them really fast.
It is a good place to play with our friends. We stay up late and pack up in the dark. We use a spot light to make sure we have picked up everything up off the beach and then we drive home.

HOW YOU CATCH A SNAPPER
My name is Matthew Roesler, we go fishing at Chinamans Wells. My favourite type of fishing is snapper fishing, because snapper put up a good fight and sometimes you get to play them for a while before you get them in.
For bait we use tommy ruffs or other fish we don’t want. We cut them into two pieces, their head and their tail. We also use a big hook, because snapper have big mouths. We fish without a sinker because the water makes the fish float and look alive, also because where we fish there is a lot of weed and rock and the line will snag.
You have to be very patient and wait for a bite, if your fish is very big you may have to use a net to get it into the boat.
They have to be 38cm long top keep, if they are smaller you have to throw them back. Snapper fishing is great fun.
